02 Nov Engage Mobile, Venture360, Umzuzu, Kim Beasley Consulting and Google Inc. Talk to Local Kansas City Entrepreneurs
Engage Mobile, along with several other Kansas City-based technology companies and Google Inc. spoke to local entrepreneurs on November 22, 2014 as part of Google For Entrepreneurs Week. The event featured Dahlia Shoukry, Associate Account Strategist from Google’s Global Business team from Google’s Mountain View headquarters (the Googleplex) and several local entrepreneurs including Engage Mobile’s Matthew Barksdale.
The following are a few of the highlights:
Dahlia Shoukry, Associate Account Strategist from Google’s Global Business team spoke about the tools Google offers to business. A list, description and link to those tools are available at https://www.googleforentrepreneurs.com/google-products/. Dahlia’s presentation was pretty basic, but let’s face it – doing the basics is the key to effectiveness. She spoke about everything from SEO to social media to google analytics.
Rachael Qualls, the CEO of Venture360 (www.venture360.co), shared her experience of starting and running Venture360 as a completely virtual company. Rachael’s team is spread throughout the country – in fact, the entire team has only been in the same physical location twice since the founding of the company. One of the more interesting facts about the company, they only have one rule – and that rule is, “Do what you say you will do.”
Joe Tierney, the Cloud Computing Director of Umzuzu (www.Umzuzu.com) spoke about how his company helps other companies throughout the midwest leverage cloud-based tools including Google Apps for Work, Dropbox and Ring Central to increase productivity. Joe had several examples of how Umzuzu was able to save clients time and money by shifting to cloud-base services.
Kim Beasle is a social media coach, strategist and self-proclaimed “Googleologist” – Kim has over 450,000 followers on Google+ (https://plus.google.com/+KimBeasley/) and she shared her insight into how she leverages Google+ and other Google tools to increase her following and reach.
Matthew Barksdale, the president of Engage Mobile Solutions (www.EngageMobile.com) spoke about how he and his team at Engage Mobile leveraged cloud based tools to quadruple revenue last year. Engage Mobile uses a series of different technologies to coordinate with clients and associates throughout the world. Engage is a completely paperless company – they literally do not have one paper-based file in their world headquarters in Kansas City. The company leverages technology to provide its clients a combination of speed and quality that would not be possible without cutting-edge cloud-based technology.
